Hot Shots Tennis for the PlayStation Portable Gameplay - How Did I Miss This?

Hot Shots Tennis(AKA Everybody's Tennis): Get a Grip for the PSP. Hey all! Not sure how I have missed this for so long, I guess tennis games have just not been on my radar for 20 years. There is often something lacking in tennis titles being pumped out on systems these days that seem to be glorified cut and paste mobile...
Great version of Phoenix. I like it.👍
It is intense!!! Looks great on the TV.
@@RetroGamingNook it really does. Quality.
Space invaders might be the first game i ever played as a kid. It was either this or pong.
Never seen that lunar rescue before. Looks ok.
I like the look of colony 7.
I have thought about this... I believe I played Indy 800 first back when i was like 4 or 5. Next Indy 800 will be 50 years old!
@@RetroGamingNook indy 800? Not sure I remember that. I'll search for it. I might recognize it once I see the gameplay.
Yep, for the arcade? I definitely remember it now.
I bought this game but I can't install it.. T_T
Sorry, some games take work. This game is particularly finicky. Look into using a virtual operating system. I have an old laptop too I can use that has a vista restore disk. For new computers look into videos on 86Box or VirtualBox t instal an older OS like Windows 98. Good luck.
@@RetroGamingNook Yeah, I've been thinking about it, is it possible to download Windows 98?
@@davidparragagarcia2284 watch this recent video, it's a great start and answers your question... Cheers!: ua-cam.com/video/qND3Eb0dI0E/v-deo.htmlsi=UjrA6xLHPnm-G84X
I go with Dragon's Revenge and Dragon's Fury a.k.a. Devil's Crush on the Sega Genesis. Jaki Crush gets 2nd and Alien's Crush gets 3rd.
Yeah, if I didn’t have a TG-16 the Genesis version are great fun. Thanks.
Gold doesn’t actually improve the sound quality, it prevents disc rot from happening
@@TheGreenDoggoOfWisdom I know, good call. It was the claim of the CD makers. I have been waiting for someone to say this!
@@RetroGamingNook Anything to make an extra penny. Audiophile snake oil is wild.
@@TheGreenDoggoOfWisdom Yeah, they got $25 out of me when I replaced my original CD that was stolen from my car. But I do love the case for these fancy gold CDs.
@@RetroGamingNook The cases are really cool. Another fact about these CDs is the gold plated version of Songs From the Big Chair by Tears for Fears has a mastering error that accidentally extends the song Head Over Heels!
@@TheGreenDoggoOfWisdom I gotta look that up and hear it. Thanks.
Phoenix was my wifes favourite arcade game as a kid. She would always play it after school. It's one of my favourites too. I was actually thinking about searching for the original arcade cab.
It’s another one we played for free a bunch when the bowling alley my dad managed was broken into. They had ripped open the doors to get quarters so we could just trigger a bunch of free games that morning while the police investigated.
Yeah, i quite like that popeye port.
It’s great! lol, I said Popeye so much it sounded weird. So in the song we say it like pup-eye, but for the chicken franchise it’s pop-eye. Clearly I was in the pup-eye mood.
I used to be kinda good at rally x and i used to be great at bosconian I like them especially bosconian I used to have a pacman plug and play that had them also I was ok kinda good at dig dug but 1st time I played it was on a computer from the 90s
That’s awesome, so you no longer have the old plug and play? Bummer.
Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely going to download these ROMS.
Awesome. I'm watching your newest Famicom Disk System fix video right now!!!
@19:16 LOL Y2K compliant! Heck yeah!
This guy says so many funny and wrong things!
Dude, I used to play this game way back in 2002. I think my mom bought it at Office Depot.
I hope to find a full copy cheap someday. It’s not bad at all.
@@RetroGamingNook it’s not. Is a really good game. Played it nonstop. Great memories indeed.
Is this one of those shopping channels? I'm not sure if we had them here in the 90s. Well, maybe QVC.🤔 Tell you what I'm watching at the minute. Remember, the day after? I remember hearing about it, but never seen it. I was watching a podcast yesterday and it was mentioned. I didn't realise that 100 million Americans tuned in to watch it. It was shown here, but we had our own version called, threads.
Yup, this was a division of HSN over here. So, I don’t recall watching The Day After, but I was aware of it. I’ll look up the TV listings in the Google newspaper archives tomorrow for when it was on to see what was on the other stations. I was probably watching the A-Team or something. I do remember they were always scaring us kids about nuclear war in the 80s. I’m sure I had a few sleepless nights thinking about it back then.
@@RetroGamingNook 1983 was it's release. It was shown in the uk a month after apparently. Lol, yeah, they loved to scare us too. We had those drills in school about hiding under your desk, or if at home you get in the doorway, lol. My grandparents still had a bomb shelter from the second world war, although it probably wouldn't have done us much good, lol. Our town was hit by the luftwaffe in WII so most houses had bomb shelters dug in the back garden's.😂
@@TheRetroManRandySavage This is interesting. So looking up the old newspaper listings for my hometown, this ABC movie ran Sunday night opposite a US/UK mini-series called Kennedy on NBC and the TV show Alice on CBS... Based on that maybe my parents were watching it... We would have only had one TV at this time. I'll have to watch the whole thing to see if it brings back any locked away memories. I will definitely also check out Threads.
@@RetroGamingNook dang! You can find, "tv guides" going back to 83? Yeah, I doubt my dad was watching it. He was probably in the pub when it aired, lol. Doubtful my mum watched it. I definitely wouldn't have. I didn't start watching adult stuff till about 85 when my dad had me and my sister watch, a nightmare on elm Street, poltergeist, and terminator. All I remember watching before 85 were cartoons, sesame Street and fraggle rock.😂 I haven't seen threads either. I'll watch it after the day after. There is about 30 minutes left of that. I'm just about to finish it.
@@TheRetroManRandySavage yup, google newspaper archives has most of the news papers digitized for my home town for my whole childhood. I go back to see where I saw a movie if I can’t remember. It’s crazy to see ads for stores and the malls that are gone or local news stories from when I was a kid I didn’t know about. All the funny pages are intact too.
I really want one of these. They are the ONLY tvs that ever had actual 720p as the native resolution. No plasma, LCD, or CRT can say that. And I own multiple of every kind. With this you can have pixel perfect Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. SNES Classic also outputs at 720p.
Right on, thanks for watching. You could find one for free eventually, but the bulbs are expensive unless you get a lucky deal like I did recently. Now, the geometry on these can be wonky and they are loud and run hot. Also the component inputs on mine have failed which sucks. So I’m just keeping it alive and using the 1 HDMI because I do love its smooth look and the speakers are killer!!! Cheers.
I meow as a big fan of the british 🇬🇧 hard rock veterans 😼🤘🎵🎶. And that CD is absolutely pawsome 🐾 😺👍. A big retrospective like 👍🎵🎶 from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
I purchased this version because my original copy was stolen with my car cd player and about 20 other CDs. At least something good came from that.
5:52 I just love those sounds. It's like being back in the arcades.😂
I do feel a little sad for anyone that does not have those original arcade sounds from the 80s or 90s in their memory banks.
@@RetroGamingNook me too. Those were some great times, eh.🙌
I've never played Astro Blaster. Looks really good. I'd like to have a bash at that myself.
On a Windows PC they recommend the A7800 emulator. Yeah, it’s awesome. MegaMania by Activision on the 2600 was clearly inspired by this game.
Yeah, you're right. A lot of these really are quite impressive.
Games made like this proves the 7800 could have been a “slight” challenger to the NES if they would have released it in 1984.
@@RetroGamingNook yeah, I agree with that.
I wish, i had some original hardwares of the Atari game consoles 😹👍🕹️. At least, i do have both Atari 2600 game compilations, ATARI ANTHOLOGY and ACTIVISION ANTHOLOGY, for the PlayStation 2 😺👍🕹️. And your video deserves a big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
Thanks! I have never actually played on a real 7800. Maybe I’ll find one this summer at yard sale. I do wish I had one to enjoy these on, but they play great on the computer through emulation anyway.
How i buy
Yeah, I'm surprised i didn't know about this. I was a huge star wars fan, especially back then.
Wow That Computer Game Looks Cool
Thanks for watching! I love the retro feel...🎳 I recently purchased the mid-90s retail copy off ebay, it works on both older Mac and PC.
Looks like the borrowed the phystics/bowling from circuit pro bowling.
I believe it's actually reverse of that since this game is based on the original Ten Pin Alley. BCPB definitely uses the same engine but tweaked to be better. and those physics would eventually be used for Fast Lanes/Strike Force Bowling
@@ChanceOfOne344254 Strike Force/ Fast lanes definitely use the same sound effects but I'm not 100% the engine/physics are the same.
Retro gaming hippie approves! Fantastic personal insight and great choice for a video. Atari really is the grandfather of home consoles.
Thanks. I have at least another couple videos worth of games I own. These have been fun going way back. BTW, I’m loving your content! Cheers.
These are really cool! I've never seen them before; I'm going to get these loaded on my iMac G3 ASAP. Thanks for sharing!
That disc was in my LucasArts Archives I collection for decades... I never looked at it before this year. It was originally made for Windows 3.1 and Mac System 7. My iMac is dual boot 9 and X. Now I'm curious too if it will run on the Bondi Blue iMac as I ran this one in a VirtualBox instance of WIndows 95. Cheers!
Ptolemy is in Pop'n Pop
Oh, nice.
I don't remember this. Seems pretty darn cool.
It came in a collection of Lucas Arts games I have from the 90s. I never looked at the screensavers till recently.
A new retrospective channel subscriber from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮. Mostly, i'm a gamer 🕹️ of the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500, but i also love the old Atari 2600 games 😺👍🕹️. And also Arcade, Sega Master System, NES and SNES 😺👍🕹️.
Thanks! I will be checking out your C64 gameplay for sure!
I love moon patrol. It's one of my favourite arcade games. Never played it on the console though.
I was surprised I liked it better on the Atari.
Yeah, the missile command looks really good. I think i played it on the arcade.
That lock n chase looks familiar.
I think Phoenix and pitfall were my favourite games for the system.
I’ll be playing Phoenix next time for sure. I have about 18 more arcade ports I own. I looked up that there’s about 50 more I don’t own!
Who Cares... Everyone Knows the Only Game You Every Need for the 2600 is E.T.! LOL Its crazy to see how well the h0mebrew Revamps really push the limits compared to games like Galaxian with the different colored sprites, was already a HUGE Upgrade from Space Invaders... My first System was the 7800, so thankfully some of the Bargin Bin games were Already 7800 Upgraded Conversions
I’m one of the freaks that like ET. I used to watch my brother beat ET in the early 80s. I do love the modern home-brews too! I agree, they have made amazing ports and new titles. Thanks for the comment!
@@RetroGamingNook Oh I Still Have My 7800 & OG Copy of E.T. My Youngest Lady Loves it, She and I also beat Simpsons Arcade Together, Great 7 yr. old Memmory for Life
Awesome video! Great effort in getting your computer to work with XP and your Voodoo2. I recently acquired a Voodoo2 12MB and I need a refresher. The Voodoo 2 is not a standalone graphics card right? It's a 3D accelerator that works in tandem with an other video card? Thanks in advance
Correct, you need a primary GPU. You may need a different set of drivers depending on the card model and OS (maybe not). It could take some trial and error... It really helps to have that little Donut program, or one like it to easily test if your Voodoo card is working. Make sure you scan your drivers and downloads from any site before using them. I use VirusTotal online. Good luck!
I need to see if that duke nukem is on my pandora. I haven't played that in eons.
Yeah, it’s been delisted from many other game services. But they’ll release it eventually again.
@@RetroGamingNook I really liked the game back in the day.
I quite like it. A nice modern twist.
I still need to get one of those evercades.
I’m having fun for sure.
I haven't heard of this game before; it looks like a ton of fun and those animations are super smooth to boot! That DLP TV definitely makes those colors pop.
Simple game, but fun. I sure am glad to have found a new cheap OEM bulb for this TV, I missed playing games on it.
How did i miss 720 back in the day.🤔 I need to get on that. Looks to be some cracking games on this. I'll make sure to watch the rest later. I'm cooking dinner tonight and the wife is hungry.😂
I was not good at 720° but it was wicked fun in the arcades. Plays decent on here. The wife is hungry = Priorities Cheers brother!
I still have both legendary compilations, MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES 1 and 2, for the PlayStation 2 😺👍🕹️. And i'm not gonna lose them 😹🤘!
This game is on the Atari Game Station Pro, which I purchased at Target, last year during the early part of the fall season. It's too bad that the system doesn't have another one of Kaplan's creations, "Kaboom". Especially being that the game station pro actually has a paddle feature, alongside the joystick. Have you ever played "Demons to Diamonds"..? That's one of the games on the game station pro. It's one of my favorite 2600 games built onto the Game Station Pro. The GSP also features games from the 5200 and 7800, along with various old school arcade games. And it also actually has some NES and Sega Genesis games built into it.
I’m looking to pick that system up as it’s been on sale lately. I have Kaboom for my real Atari, it’s a classic!
What is your favorite in this collection??? Related videos in the Description!
Looks like there's some heavy hitters in here, especially considering the hardware limitations. Commando's visuals are surprisingly good even if that gameplay doesn't hold up. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I can respect the graphics produce on an Atari 2600, considering the massive restrictions, but gameplay always wins out. I always appreciate you checking out my channel!
Great stuff here! I enjoy your insights and the connection you bring to your memories of when you were a young person. I was an avid arcade game player at this time as well. I had an Atari back then and agree that most of these games you showed here did a pretty good job of bringing the arcade experience home, considering what they had to work with back than. That all changed when the colecovision came out shortly after, as I think the colecovision did a fantastic job of porting arcade games. There is a roller controller accessory for the Atari, which I have never tried out. I do have the roller controller for the colecovision and it works pretty good. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I was dying to get a ColecoVision, but my dad got a Color Computer.. oh well. But I was living near the malls and Service Merchandise had one set up. Played plenty of Donkey Kong and Pepper II on it.
That's how you roll the ball? Oof, embarrassing as hell
🤔You mean you discovered you have been doing it wrong all this time? lol.
